Wednesday, February 1,

H. Balam Ware, L. C.

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Christ, our King. Thy Kingdom come!

Introductory prayer (for me in the presence of God)

Lord, I want to meet you, I want to be your friend and to be here without worrying about it for nothing more than to be with you. Today I do not want you to ask for miracles bright we only ask that you give me faith to discover yourself in the greater miracle that is the Eucharist. Teach me to see you in the bread; to discover that in this small piece of bread is the same God; to find in the silence of the tabernacle of the words that my heart needs.

Gospel of the day (to guide your meditation)

From the holy Gospel according to st. Mark 6, 1-6

At that time, Jesus went to his land in the company of his disciples. When the sabbath came, he began to teach in the synagogue, and the crowd that heard him wondered with amazement: “Where did you learn this man so much? Whence comes this wisdom and this power to do miracles? What is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, Joseph, Judas and Simon? Do not live here, among us, his sisters?” And were baffled.

But Jesus said to them: “All honour to a prophet, unless his land, his relatives and his home.” And he could there do no miracles, only healed a few sick, imposing the hands. And I was surprised of the unbelief of the people. Then she went on to teach in the neighboring villages.

The word of the Lord.

Meditate on what God says in the Gospel.

With eyes and heart of a child.

Sometimes it is necessary to have the eyes of children to discover in the most simple things to something big. How many times one can miss the joy of life by their prejudices! Think of a child, has no problem in spending a good day playing with a child on the street, not afraid to ask uncomfortable questions, has no shame. In the end, a child is able to see in a piece of bread to the same God, knows how to pray with Jesus as a friend and not afraid to say to their friends that their best friend is Jesus.

And what happens in the Gospel of today is the opposite of what we teach the children. The nazarenes see Jesus in flesh and bone, listen to his great words and give account of his miracles. And, what is it that happens? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. Your heart is colder than a stone because you see everything with eyes of a human. See the situation in a horizontal plane. Then start with the comments typical of people envious, but this is not one way or the other? Man, but if you know well to this and is not going to surprise us! Do not know see with the eyes of children who see beyond.

And maybe we can spend the same to us. Maybe go to mass with human eyes and we don’t discover the great miracle. We see in the priest a man, who has such-and-such a defect, but we do not marvel that God is in this man so fragile; we don’t marvel at the priestly vocation and that is why you hear so much criticism against the “cure”. It may happen that we do not listen with fervor the words of the Gospel because we are accustomed and we are gradually closing the heart. In the end, it may happen that you do not see the great gift of the Eucharist and comulguemos as if you take any thing, without realizing that it is God who comes into our hearts.

Jesus, renew our hearts for you to discover in all the events of our lives, so that we see your loving hand in our history and we marvel every day. We can see in the neighbour of the great qualities that you have and not see them waiting to see where they fail. Finally, I ask that we learn to see in the sacraments is a special time where You come to us and fill us with your love and your mercy.

“First of all to recognize Jesus, to know and recognize you. In his time, the apostle John, at the beginning of his Gospel, says that many did not recognize him: the doctors of the law, the chief priests, the scribes, the sadducees, some pharisees. Is more, we pursued them, they killed him. The first attitude that needs to have is to know and recognize Jesus; look to how Jesus was: what I’m interested in this? A question that all of us must ask ourselves: do I want to know Jesus or maybe you are more interested in the soap opera or the talks or the ambition, or the life of others? You must know Jesus to be able to recognize. And to know Jesus is prayer, the Holy Spirit, yes; but a good system is to take the Gospel all the days.”

(Cf Homily of S. S. Francis, January 9, 2017 in santa Marta).

Dialogue with Christ

This is the most important part of your prayer, be prepared to talk with a lot of love with the One who loves you.

Today, Jesus, I’m going to spend a moment of the Eucharist, to contemplate with a new look and a new heart for this great miracle.

Make it a personal one. The more love involved in response to the Beloved… or, if you think that is what God asks of you, live what you suggested below.

We thank you, Lord, for all your benefits, You who live and reign for ever and ever.

Christ, our King!

Thy Kingdom come!

Virgin prudentísima, Mary, Mother of the Church.

Pray for us.

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
