Francis commented that «the disciples went down from the mountain with the eyes and hearts transformed by the encounter with the Lord,» and added, advising:

«This is the way that we perform we also. The rediscovery always live of Jesus is not an end in itself, but leads us to descend from the mountain, weighed down with the force of the Divine Spirit, to decide on new steps to authentic conversion and to bear witness constantly to the charity as the law of daily life».

The Pope commented that the three apostles were transformed by the presence of Christ and the ardour of His Word. The event of the Transfiguration of the Lord, the Pontiff said, offers us a message of hope: by inviting us to encounter Jesus, to be at the service of the brothers.

Separated from the worldly things, look to Jesus

«The rise of the disciples at Mount Tabor leads us to reflect on the importance of separating from the worldly things, to make a path in the direction of a high and look to Jesus. It is placed on careful listening and prayerful of Christ, the beloved Son of the Father, looking for intimate moments of prayer that allow the host docile and glad of the Word of God», the Holy Father said.

Silence, meditation of the Gospel: splendor, joy

The faithful present in St. Peter’s Square, under the strong heat of a roman, were also invited to rediscover the silence pacifier and regenerator of the meditation of the Gospel: he «leads to a target rich of beauty, of splendor and of joy».

He advised the Pope: «the summer time is a providential moment to increase our commitment to search and encounter with the Lord». And, making a reference to the european summer and school holidays, Francis stated that «during this time, students are free of commitments to school and many families make their vacation. It is important that during the period of rest and detachment from the daily occupations, it can regenerate the forces of the body and the spirit, to deepen the spiritual path».

Our Lady and those who can not get a vacation

Straight away, walking toward the end of his words, the Pope entrusted to Our Lady the vacation of all asking that She help us to enter in harmony with the Word of God to Christ becomes a light and guide for our lives:
