The elementary school, Robert W. Coleman, in Baltimore, Maryland, is changing an educational practice that has been implemented for decades: when it is misbehaving there is that to punish him. Contrary to this, the authorities of the school are sending students who have committed mistakes in his behavior to meditation classes.
In the classroom you have made The Mindful Moment Room (The Room of the Moment of Consciousness) and from the implementation of the project to mid-2016, there have been zero arrests at the school and the children are bringing the practices of mindfulness to their homes, causing a positive impact beyond the classroom.
Meditation as a holistic therapy
“We’ve had parents come some say: ‘I came home the other day, stressed out, and my daughter told me that was going to teach me the correct way of breathing for you to relax,’” said Andrés González, co-director of the Holistic Life Foundation.
The authorities of the school to ensure that students that are getting classes of meditation in place of punishment for bad behavior get the best grades in the exams and tests in school, the time that reflect improvements in the process of the information and deal better with the stress linked to curricular tasks.
